Located at the foothills of the Connors Range south of Mackay, Sarina is a relatively unspoilt area. It has retained much of its natural charm, while having developed into a thriving business area. Enjoy the country hospitality, beautiful beaches, scenic mountain ranges, prime fishing and prawning.
Sarina Tourist Art and Craft Information Centre will provide you with friendly local advice. It also carries a host of beautiful locally made arts, crafts and souvenirs.
A few of the beachside communities surrounding Sarina include Sarina Beach, Grasstree Beach, Salonika Beach and Freshwater Point. They are popular areas for fishing, prawning, boating and picnicking. There’s a range of accommodations with licensed restaurant facilities, takeaways and local convenience stores.
Lake Barfield, which adjoins Salonika Beach, is a great place to stop as it is now a bird sanctuary – home to black swans, white herons and egrets.
Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminals are the largest coal export facilities in the world with a throughput of 44 million and 68 million tonnes per annum respectively. The administrative building at the Hay Point Coal Terminal operates a viewing platform where the handling and export activity can be viewed.

| We are a local family business from a small cattle property south west of Sarina in the beautiful Connors Ranges known as Mansfield Park. Our family has a wealth of knowledge of things to see and do in the region and we are more than happy to share our experiences with you. Our family purchased the Sarina Motor Inn and Hideaway Restaurant at 22 Broad Street in October 2009. The Restaurant had been closed for 9 months prior to us purchasing the business. We have successfully operated this Al la Catre Restaurant for two years and have opened a cafe at the front of the Restaurant which is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. We have also added a shoes, bags and lingerie shop which adjoins the cafe. The Motel has 16 studio style rooms which have all been refurbished over the last 18 months. The Motel and Restaurant is perfect for the corporate traveller with meals available either in the Restaurant or room service 7 days a week. It is also situated right next door to Woolworths and a laundry mat. The Restaurant is perfect for any type of function including birthday parties, fundraisers, corporate functions, visiting bus groups popping in for lunch, 21st birthdays or social events organised by us such as Comedians, bands, race nights, monte carlo nights etc. The Restaurant also caters for corporate and private functions on and off the premises. |
